Our first EFN seminar for this year will be on the Engineering of the 2012 London Olympic Stadia:
Constructing the London 2012 Olympic Stadium by Michael Kaverne, Buro Happold Consultants
and
Engineering the London 2012 Olympic Velodrome by Ruth Hopgood-Oates, Expedition Engineereing
This 6000 seat Velodrome will house track cycling events during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games. In the post-Olympic legacy period it will serve as a regional centre for cyclists and athletes alike. This presentation will give an overview of the engineering challenges on the project: From the Velodrome’s signature doubly curved cable net roof through to the design of its substructure in contaminated ground.
